Shillong / Cherrapunjee/ Jowai/ Kaziranga National Park / Majuli/ Bhalukpong/ Dirang / Tawang / Bomdila / Guwahati
GUWAHATI – SHILLONG (100 KM. / 03 hrs)
Arrive at Guwahati airport/railway station, meet by our representative and transfer to Shillong. Shillong is also known as “the Scotland of the East”. En route visit the Umium Lake also commonly known as Barapani Lake. On the way to Shillong you can have the view of roadside fruit and pickle stalls which are produced locally. On arrival, check into hotel. Evening visit the Ward’s Lake, Cathedral of Mary’s Help for Christians – also said as one of the oldest church in Asia, and also the Golf Course. You can also visit the Local Market. Return to hotel by dusk. Overnight. Shillong is the capital city Meghalaya, also known as "The Abode of Clouds", one of the smallest states in India. It is said that the rolling hills around the town reminded the European settlers of Scotland. Hence, Shillong is referred as the "Scotland of the East"
Day 2 : Shillong – Cherrapunjee stay (56 kms/ 2 hrs)
After breakfast drive towards Cherrapunjee-- Cherrapunjee, also known as Sohra, is a high-altitude town in the northeast Indian state of Meghalaya. It's known for its living root bridges, made from rubber trees. En route, visit Shillong Peak and Elephant Falls. Shillong Peak is also known as Shillong view point from where you see the vistas of Shillong City. Elephant Falls is another tourist attraction of Shillong. In Cherrapunjee you can visit the Nokhalikai falls, Seven Sister’s falls, Dainthlen falls and Mawsmai cave. Post lunch visit the Awrah Cave. Overnight stay at Cherrapunjee Note: Visit to Shillong Peak is Subject to permission by the authorities of Indian Air Force
Cherrapunjee – Dawki – Mawlynnong & back to Shillong (200/ 6.3 hrs- both way)
After breakfast drive to Dawki – the border town between India and Bangladesh. In Dawki you can also see the Suspension bridge above the Umngot river. The suspension bridge was constructed during the British rule. You can also enjoy country boat ride in the Umngot river. ---The specialty of Umngot river is that – the water is very crystal clear en you can see the ground. After that drive towards Mawlynong- also known as the “cleanest village in Asia”. You can observe the cleanliness of the village by taking a short walk. Post lunch visit the nearby Riwai village and walk around the Single Deccer Living Root Bridge. Return to Shillong. Overnight.
SHILLONG- JOWAI - SHILLONG (180 km/06hrs both ways)
After breakfast set to explore Jowai. The scenic beauty of Jowai attracts tourist since many years. The sight-seeing includes Durga Temple, Krang Suri Falls and Nartiang Monoliths. Lunch on the way. By evening return to hotel. Overnight stay at Shillong.
SHILLONG - KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK (6 hrs / 250 kms)
After Breakfast check out from the hotel. Transfer to Kaziranga National Park, the home of the “One Horned Rhinoceros” Check in at your hotel/Lodge/resort. Visit the Kaziranga Orchid Park and enjoy the cultural show there. Overnight stay at hotel.
KAZIRANGA NATIONAL PARK
Early morning explore Western Zone of Kaziranga National Park on back of elephant( Elephant safari). Apart from world's endangered One-horned Rhinoceros, the Park sustains half the world's population of genetically pure Wild Water Buffaloes, over 1000 Wild elephants and perhaps the densest population of Royal Bengal Tigers anywhere. Kaziranga is also a bird watcher's paradise and home to some 500 species of birds. The Crested Serpent Eagle, Palla's Fishing Eagle, Greyheaded Fishing Eagle, Swamp Partridge, Bar-headed goose, whistling Teal, Bengal Florican, Storks, Herons and Pelicans are some of the species found here. Later return to the resort for breakfast. Afternoon we have arranged a jeep safari through the Central Zone of the National Park. Evening return back to the hotel.Overnight stay at hotel
KAZIRANGA- MAJULI ( 180km , 5.5hrs including ferry ride)
Early morning drive to Majuli River Island. Majuli is a river island in the Brahmaputra River. You can enjoy the ferry ride to reach Majuli. Night stay at Majuli.
MAJULI – KAZIRANGA ( 180 KM , 5.5 HRS )
Today wake up a little early. View the Sun rising above the Worlds largest river island and visit the various Satras of Vaishnava creed. The enchanting Majuli will offer you vivid culture and cradle of Assamese people along with different local tribes . Return back to Kaziranga . Overnight.
KAZIRANGA - BHALUKPONG ( 3 hrs / 108.3 km)
Today proceed to Bhalukpung via Tezpur is closely linked with the legendary love story of Usha and Anirudha. (Agni ghar )(Mahabharata Mythology). Night stay at Bhalukpung..
BHALUKPONG- DIRANG (140 kms / 5.5 hrs)
After breakfast drive to Dirang the land of Monpa tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Enroute visit Sessa Orchid Sancturiand Tippi Orchidcenter. Overnight at Dirang
DIRANG - TAWANG (135 kms / 06 hrs)
After breakfast proceed to Tawang. On the way experience hot spring near ,the beauty of Sella Lake in Sella Pass (13746ft), Jaswantgarh- located 16kms from Sella Pass is a memorial to the brave soldier who single handedly tried to get hold of the approaching Chinese army during the Chinese aggression in 1962. Narunang waterfall. On reaching Tawang one can see the Great Tawang Monestry. Evening explore Tawang town. Overnight in Tawang.
Today after breakfast explore Tawang - Tawang Monastery, Unni-Gompa (Women Monastery), Urrigilling (the birth place of 6th Dalai Lama). Evening back to Tawang.Over night at Tawang.
TAWANG- BUMLA - TAWANG
After breakfast Excursion to Bumla Pass Evening visit War Memorial and scenic drive to PTso Lake,Bumla & MadhuriLake which is close to the Chinese border. Overnight stay at Tawang
TAWANG – BOMDILA (180kms/7 hrs)
Drive backward to Bomdila. On the way visit Kiwi garden, Bomdila monestry, Apple orchard, carpet craft center, Ethnographic museum. Overnight halt at Bomdila.
BOMDILA- GUWAHATI( 269 Km , 8 hrs)
After breakfast drive back to Guwahati. Overnight Stay at Guwahati
Today morning transfer to Guwahati airport railway station for onward journey. Tour ends.
